The wonderful world of blogging .......................

Isn't it funny how reading one persons blog post leads you to another, then on to another, and then suddenly you just have to make something RIGHT NOW!  Last Friday I was reading about Josies day with her friends and what they were working on, which led me on to a new to me blog, Kristyne at Pretty by Hand and her wonderful Project Simplify challenge.  Kristyne made every quilt and cushion in Camille Roskelly's beautiful Simplify book.  Do have a look at her blog, I had a good giggle, she's a very funny girl, and thankyou Josie for sharing the link.

So I dug out my copy of Simplify and decided that right then I had to make one of the cushions in it.  I did choose the simplest one of course as I only had about 1 1/2 hours before I had to go meet the school bus.  So our youngest arrived home to a new cushion on her bed and she is pretty chuffed about it!  I used some of my Sherbet Pips charm square and finished it with some straight line quilting.  Now our eldest has picked out a cushion for me to make for her room, but that will have to wait until my Tis the Season is finished.  Which of course will(hopefully) be by this Fridays deadline. After a long drought this is also an OPAM finish for me for September.

Aren't those little puppies the cutest ..............

And the book for the inspiration ...............

This week I've also been thinking about what to make for my partner in Chookyblues 2011 Secret Santa Christmas Swap, and to be honest I'm really not sure yet what it's going to be.  But it's been fun doing some blog stalking to get an idea of what my partner might like.

Thanks for all the comments about my hens - it's 'eggciting' times around here, as we check the nesting boxes every day to see how many eggs there are, we're up to two most days now!

Until next time, thanks for visiting ...................... happy stitching ............ Nicky

Easter bunnies and birdies ........

Isn't this wee guy the cutest?  I was lucky enough to be a winner in Carol's Spring Giveaway a couple of weeks ago, and this Just Nan bunny has come all the way from Pennsylvania to live at my house.  Carol's finishing is beautiful and she has a whole lot more gorgeous bunnies she's been stitching up for Easter.  I feel SO lucky to be a winner in your lovely giveaway Carol, this is the first giveaway I've ever won, so thanks!  I don't enter many giveaways, unless it's a blog I already visit, so I feel very blessed.    It may not be spring here in NZ, but it is definitely bunny time with Easter only a day away!

My stitching from last weeks FNSI is now finished.  This is the April block for the Birdie Stitches BOM, with a cute Easter egg tree.  The tree is a little hard to pick out, maybe I should have chosen a darker green.  Sadly the cross stitch I had planned for Easter has not eventuated ...... yet!

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter, we are heading away tomorrow for a few days to my in-laws, so I'll catch up again next week.

Till then.............happy stitching...................Nicky

PS:  Miss Moe - if you could email me    nickyw76 at yahoo dot com    as you are no-reply, and I will get back to you about the SB stockings.  Thanks.

Is your glass half full????

Or is it half empty????  If you are a glass half empty kind of person you'll say I'm two months too late to be finishing up Easter stitching, but I'm more of a glass half full kind of girl, and I reckon I'm about ten months early for next Easter!  This is what I sewed up last night for my first Friday Night Sewin, what a great excuse reason to spend a cold Friday evening stitching.  You might have seen this here, back in March, but it didn't quite get the treatment in time for Easter.

Stitched on Natural Belfast 32ct
WDW & Gentle Arts threads as kitted

After Good Eggs was finished up I also put in a few more stitches on my Lizzie Kate Christmas Flip-It piece.  Have finished up Faith and started on Cheer.  Pink church? Might be the next big thing?!
Over the next week the plan is to finish up the next block on A Gardener's Journal SAL.  Next month's block has heaps of stitchery, so I'd like to get a head start on that if I can.

If you participated in Friday Night Sew-in, hope you had a productive night ..............I know I did!

Thanks for stopping by.............  Nicky

Pin Pillow for Rowyn

I heard from Rowyn that she received her Pin Pillow for the exchange organised recently by Becky.  I saw that Rowyn had stitched a few LHN designs, so thought this one might suit her.  It is Small House Sampler from the Something Old, Something New pattern.  I changed the original ABC under the house to Rowyn's initials. I think the design was originally a freebie, but has been re-released in this collection of patterns.  Most of the other Pin Pillows I have seen in this exchange have some cute little details, buttons, ribbons or trims.  Unfortunately, mine is very much a plain finish, with a bit of practice, one day I will be brave enough to add a bit more bling. This is the first exchange I have participated in, and I have really enjoyed the experience. Rowyn has a wonderful blog, which I can now follow officially, instead of stalking her while I tried to keep my stitching secret from her. lol. So pop on over and check it out.

Secret Flowerbed Finish

I've spent a lovely afternoon playing in my sewing room working in my sewing room, and have completed this wee lovely.  I stitched it a while back, and it has been sitting in a big pile of things to be 'finished'. It was very daunting to just give it a go, but I'm pretty happy with the finished result.  I decided to make it a little assymetrical, rather than centred.  One more off my list to finish, maybe I'll keep at it while I'm in the mood.

Secret Flowerbed - The Trilogy
Stitched on Natural Belfast 32ct
with  Gentle Art, Weeks Dye Work threads

I completed the finishing on my Pin Pillow exchange yesterday and mailed it today.  So it is now winging its way to a new home, and will be there in a few days I hope.  Thanks to everyone who has stopped by, and/or left a comment, it is so nice to hear from you all.

Till next time..........Busy stitching
