Blog maintenance..........

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

OK - not sure if I'm doing this right, but if this is how I stake my claim to my own blog in Bloglovin' I shall consider it done!

I am so woefully behind in blog reading, commenting and emailing...... thank goodness there are a few quiet days coming up over Easter to get caught up on some blogging, sewing and gardening, I will be making the most of the opportunity...... one more day of sheep work tomorrow and then I will catch up with you over the long weekend!

Have a lovely Easter......Nicky xx

Nicky, I have just read your silage making. On my Dad's farm in the Karaka district, there were no loaders, one tractor on each farm ( about 100 acres each, really only a large lifestyle these days) a buck rake, that was such a bonus, and a pit, usually in the same paddock. I can remember my Dad cutting a slice across the pit with a huge machete type thing, with a large handle across the top of the blade. Then we loaded it onto the trailer and fed it our with a huge fork!!!Herd size was small, about 50 per farm, and friesian cows, so they ate more than the smaller Jersey ones. How life changes with modern machinery. And the weather dictates the day's work!!! Enjoy the last of our golden days. Cheers from Jean
